Protocol for the installation of outlets to charge electric vehicles in garage spaces.

Taking into account that electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, that recharging facilities must meet certain parameters for safety reasons and that community electrical outlets cannot be used for these purposes for obvious reasons, a series of rules are detailed below. They must be followed by those owners who want to install an outlet for recharging an electric vehicle in their garage space.

  • Inform the President or the Community Administration, in writing, of the intention of installing an outlet for recharging an electric vehicle.
  • The installation must be done through an authorized electrician installer complying with the regulations and all the necessary safety measures in accordance with Complementary Technical Instruction No. 52 of the Low Voltage Electro technical Regulation (BOE No. 316 of 12/31/2014 (ITC) BT-52 Special purpose facilities, infrastructures for charging electric vehicles).
  • The Head of Maintenance will indicate to the installers where to pass the wiring, ensuring that the facilities are as tidy as possible and that the lines are protected against indirect contacts and against surges.
  • The socket must be located in the owner´s garage space.
  • The installation must be made as a branch from the electrical installation of the apartment of the owner of the garage space in question.
  • The Head of Maintenance must review the installation and verify that everything is in order.
  • The owner of the garage must cover all necessary installation and paperwork costs
